For several years, SOAR members have consistently identified custody and visitation as a campaign issue. This year SOAR received a grant to support the “Custody & Visitation Solutions” project. The “Custody and Visitation Solutions” project will address the financial, social and emotional impact of custody and visitation cases on victims of domestic violence and their children. The project will also help SOAR identify weaknesses and strengths of this system in order to create policy and administrative recommendations to assist those dealing with this issue.
To create a list of recommendations for court, government and social and legal service agencies that will improve the conditions for victims of domestic abuse who are locked in lengthy child custody disputes with their abusers.
To identify the legal system stakeholders to whom this list of recommendations should be presented.
To mentor and guide SOAR members in how to affect change in their lives and in their communities.
