SOAR in the Media
SOAR members regularly work with the media to help raise awareness about domestic violence. As survivors, SOAR members have a unique and valuable perspective on the issue, understanding firsthand the warning signs, barriers to leaving, and dynamics of abuse.
Reporters seek out SOAR members as sources for their media coverage, particularly to provide context and commentary around domestic violence homicides and other high profile incidents. SOAR members also work with journalists who are developing feature stories to raise awareness about domestic violence or address specific issues, such as gaps in the criminal justice system.
